Join us for a very special night at Monk’s Café, a bit of Belgium in the heart of Philadelphia. In an intimate setting reminiscent of a rustic Brasserie, a veritable feast of Belgian delights will transport you across the sea. The art of biere cuisine has long been a source of pride for the Belgians, who have more diverse beer styles than any other country in the world. Monk’s owner and Chaîne member, Tom Peters, has embraced the art with the fervor of a man possessed. He and his talented staff will prepare for us signature dishes of Belgium, accompanied by some of the beers, both well known and obscure, for which this country is famous. Beginning with a trio of Hors d’Oeuvres served with Monk’s Café’s very own Flemish Sour Ale, specially brewed for Tom by Van Steenburgen in Belgium, your palate will be tantalized by the intriguing pairings of the unique cuisine. From the pouring of the classic Duvel (from a Jeroboam!) with Mussels Ghent style to the homey Hennepot, followed by Turbot with the stellar Westmalle Tripel, and Lamb Loin served with the rare malt complexity of the Rochefort 8°, the range of flavors will amaze you. There will even be a dessert beer served with a Gueuze Sabayon! Put your "wine palate" to the test and join us for a most memorable dinner at Philadelphia’s world-renowned beer heaven. The seating will be limited to just 28 people. In order to accommodate everyone for this small dinner, some seating will be at the bar, in close proximity to the "Brussels Spouts". With this in mind, if you want to insure a place at this season’s most unique event, please send in your reservation as soon as possible.
