It’s back! The wine tasting event you’ve been waiting for, our annual California wine tasting, will be held on May 1, 2005. Once again, the theme for the event will be "outstanding and affordable California wines".
Travel with us out to the fabulous Dilworthtown Inn, winner of the Philadelphia Baillage’s prestigious "Dinner of the Year" award just two years ago, and enjoy a special evening of fine wines in Dilworthtown’s Inn Keeper’s Kitchen. This special location will allow us to witness the chef’s preparation of each of our well-matched dishes in the privacy of this special facility.
We’ll enjoy an outstanding array of accompanying foods with these fine wines for this special tasting event. To start, we’ll enjoy our appetizers served with our Russian River Vintage Brut. Then, we venture to our tables to enjoy six flights of outstanding wines. We’ll start with a mini-vertical of Lewis Cellars’ Barcaglia Lane Chardonnay accompanied by a porcini egg custard in shell. This critically-acclaimed, limited-production chardonnay will get our evening off to a great start.
Then, we’ll be treated to a wonderful selection of California red wines including Pinot Noir, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and new for this year, a flight of California Grenache. Our flight of Grenache (one of your humble event host’s favorite varietals) will be served with a special Black Cod dish. And of course, we’ll have our annual "Oakville Showdown" flight of outstanding Cabernets from Napa Valley’s Oakville district. Last year’s winner of the Oakville Showdown, the 1999 Paradigm will be served alongside two new Oakville entrants and will be accompanied by Breast of Squab with Yukon Gold and Foie Gras Hash. Wow!
This promises to be an event you won’t want to miss. Please join us for a special evening of fine wines and outstanding food, in a casual setting consistent with the enjoyment of the wines of California. Seating will be limited, and this event has SOLD OUT each of the last two years, so please reply early. Whatever you do, don’t miss it!
